Educational Issues, School Settings, and Environmental Psychology

This paper reviews classrooms as places for learning, socialization and as places for psychological development. Issues explored deal with the impact of noise and classroom design on learning; the relationship between seating position, achievement and status; spatial cognition; the classroom environment and sex role stereotyping; privacy; and density.

Modifying the Classroom Environment to Increase Engagement and Decrease Disruption with Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

This paper explores how classroom environments impacts behaviour, attitudes, involvement, and achievement or students with auditory impairments.  Environmental aspects considered include, seating positions, classroom design, density, privacy, noise, and the presence or absence of windows.  The research also considers ecological perspectives, as well as open school designs.
